Carpet inspiration comes from traditional Icelandic embroidery. With special focus on the way they have made different kind of stars, both in wall carpets, table cloths, clothes and in- side old skin shoes made of fish skin.

In my carpet i try to mix the old stars with more new tradi- tional stars and therefore make my own kind of stars.

The stars can either stand alone big on the carpet or be mixed together in bigger group of smaller stars.

Dögg Design studio’s vision is to create ‘innovative, sustainable, emotional and timeless design solutions’ for the people.

The focus is to preserve and respect nature, while creating new designs. Therefore, the choice of material is an important issue in Dögg’s designs. Dögg focuses on using either natural, recycled or raw materials. These materials have to be “up cycled” in the future for alternative and better use, adopting the “Cradle to Cradle” philosophy.

Focus is put on our future production. Dögg Design educates design, production firms and schools, to understand what sustainable innovation means, by giving workshops, lectures and consultancy.

A sculptural furniture piece that is an experiment with nature and form: “Going out into a rough landscape and creating a piece of furniture from things one finds along the way, where no trees grow”. Here, they are all over the place, like driftwood on the beach after what may have been a journey from Siberia lasting several years to the “strandir” (coasts) of north-western Iceland.

With inspiration from the rosette ceiling at the Thorvaldsens museum and the sculptural molding process.

The chose of nature material from Iceland has a link to (Karl Albert) Bertel Thorvaldsen half Icelandic origins as he might have been born there.

” When the present meets with the past”

In a rapidly changing world, the tension between the present and the past opens up a space for creative possibilities.

Our inspiration is a reflection on our Nordic heritage, mythology and bond with nature, and the relationship between the physical and spiritual world.

Ravens have been used to symbolize darkness, mystery and intelligence. They represent a spiritual dimension, so close to and yet distant from everyday trivialities.

The raven skulls in the box face each other in a kind of duel; the transience and transformation of all tings is the same dynamic energy that creates renewal.

Is our tribute to the exhibition: “Hrafnaþing” is one off the boxes: “What is Nordic for you”?
