ASKA
When designing the urn, we wanted to break away from the traditional form and looked to nature for inspiration.
The name Aska comes from the Icelandic word for ash, reflecting the black sand beaches and highlands of Iceland that are formed by volcanic eruptions. One of the most popular tourist places in Iceland is Reynisfjara, a black sand beach on the southern coast where the main attraction is a huge wall of basalt columns as well as these rocks standing so magnificently in the sea. As the design was inspired by those basalt columns, the name Aska was inspired by the black volcanic sand.
The raw material used for our urns is cellulose, which is derived from cardboard and newspapers. This material is pulped into paper paste without the use of glues or toxic substances, making it organic, recyclable, and biodegradable. The drying process for our urns is also done using natural methods.
