ENERGIA:
What is it? Vase or sculpture
What is the story behind it?
The Inspiration for the vases came from a volcanic eruption of the largest iceberg in Europe, which took place in 1996. Huge cracks in the ice occurred and eventually the Vulcan beneath broke away the ice and oozed out.
Looking at the vases, the gaps in the ice are represented by the metal surrounds and the glass is the Vulcan pushing to come through.
The vases started as an experimental work with blowing glass into either bended open metal structure out of metal plates that are welded with a bottom and burned black, or by using rusted and weathered metal tubs or squares with a hand cut holes and gaps.
What is it made of? Glass and metal
What does it do? It holds flowers or works as sculpture to look at.
Why is it important? It is important for the one who like flowers and at the same time raw sculpture that has historical inspiration.
